Is the Information Relevant?
Not all information is appropriate for a particular assignment or information need. One of the key evaluation questions you must ask about a source is how relevant, that is useful or pertinent, the information is to your needs. Consider the following questions:
- Is the format or medium of the information useful for your assignment?
- Is the information comprehensive enough for your needs?
- Is the information a primary or secondary source?
- Does the information express a particular point of view, or is the information balanced, providing all points of view?
- Is the information directed toward a general or a specialized audience?
