Donate Books, DVDs, or CDs
All donations should be in clean, working condition. We cannot accept items that have been exposed to mildew or damaged by water. The Library is most interested in new/recent textbooks, current fiction, and nonfiction that might meet the needs of the college's curriculum. The librarians will evaluate all donations. Items that are not added to the collection will be placed in the FOL book sales.
Donations may be dropped off at the Circulation Desk (in the less busy afternoons, please) or by appointment. If you have a large volume of donations, you will need to make an appointment so that a staff member can meet you in the loading dock behind the library with a cart. Library staff will fill out a donation receipt listing the number of items by type; this is your receipt for tax purposes. Please note that we cannot assign monetary values. Your own purchase receipts will provide any further needed documentation.
Donate Used Inkjet Cartridges or Cell Phones
The FOL earns funds by recycling certain types of used inkjet cartridges and old cell phones. The amount earned per item ranges from 10 cents to $2. Please place your cartridges or cell phones in a plastic sandwich bag and place the bag in the collection box atop the small bookcase near the Photocopier Alcove.
PLEASE: No large laser or toner cartridges; the recycling company will not accept them.

Join the Friends of the Library (FOL)
The Friends of the Library is part of the Contra Costa College Foundation. Its purpose is to promote the assets and programs of the library through fundraising activities, volunteerism, and public relations. Friends volunteer in the library and help with book sales, donation sorting, recruitment, and other fund-raising activities.
